Data protection in heterogeneous distributed systems: A smart meter example
نویسندگان
چکیده
Usage control is concerned with how data is used after access has been granted. Enforcement mechanisms have been implemented for distributed systems like web based social networks (WBSN) at various levels of abstraction. We extend data usage control to heterogeneous distributed systems by implementing a policy enforcement mechanism for a smart meter connected to a WBSN. The idea is to provide users an opportunity to share their energy usage and other related data within their social group while maintaining control over further usage of that data. The implementation borrows from an existing usage control framework for a common web browser.

Data Protection in a Cloud-Enabled Smart Grid
Today’s electricity grid is evolving into the smart grid which ought to be reliable, flexible, efficient, and sustainable. To fulfill these requirements, the smart grid draws on a plenty of core technologies. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). These technologies facilitate easy and fast accumulation of different data, e.g. fine-grained meter readings. Various security and privacy concerns ...
متن کاملA new Shuffled Genetic-based Task Scheduling Algorithm in Heterogeneous Distributed Systems
Distributed systems such as Grid- and Cloud Computing provision web services to their users in all of the world. One of the most important concerns which service providers encounter is to handle total cost of ownership (TCO). The large part of TCO is related to power consumption due to inefficient resource management. Task scheduling module as a key component can has drastic impact on both user...
متن کاملIjpres Zigbee Based Data Communication System within Future Microgrids
The customer domain of the smart grid naturally blends with smart home and smart building systems, but typical proposed approaches are “distributor-centric” rather than “customer-centric,” undermining user acceptance, and are often poorly scalable. To solve this problem, we propose a detailed architecture and an implementation of a “last-meter” smart grid—the portion of the smart grid on custom...
متن کاملOptimal DG Allocation and Thyristor-FCL Controlled Impedance Sizing for Smart Distribution Systems Using Genetic Algorithm
Recently, smart grids have been considered as one of the vital elements in upgrading current power systems to a system with more reliability and efficiency. Distributed generation is necessary for most of these new networks. Indeed, in all cases that DGs are used in distribution systems, protection coordination failures may occur in multiple configurations of smart grids using DGs. In different...
متن کاملSmart City Reference Model: Interconnectivity for On-Demand User to Service Authentication
The Internet of Things and Services (IoTS) has encouraged the development of service provisioning systems in respect to Smart City topics. Most of them are operated as heterogeneous systems which limits end customers’ access and contradicts with IoTS principles. In this paper, we discuss and develop a reference model of an interconnected service marketplace ecosystem. The prototypical implement...
